Interrogative Words
You use interrogative words (who, what, when, where, and so on) to ask questions. Questions formed using interrogative words require more than a "yes" or "no" answer. They are requesting more information.
In Spanish, when you ask a question with an interrogative word you put the verb before the subject.
¿ Qué come Elena en el restaurante? What does Elena eat at the restaurante?
¿Adónde va ella después de las clases? Where does she go after classes?
¿Por qué va Carlos a la playa cada día? Why does Carlos go to the beach every day?
**Notice that all interrogative words have a written accent mark. This differentiates them from their non-question counterparts. Without these accents, the words can have different meanings. So be sure to add them.
I. This video goes over the interrogative words in more depth plus has a matching quiz built into the video. I would suggest going over the quiz so you can self-assess. It isn't too tedious since it's matching.
